…And for Easter…..

John walked out in the heat of the day
To the Jordan River where salvation lay

His head was burning in the blazing sun
So he reached his hands into the water’s run

John splashed salvation on his burning brow
Closed his eyes and let the water run down

He walked up to Saints and Sinners the same
He wanted to no money, no gifts, and no fame

He delivered them from evil
He delivered them from the hell
He granted them salvation
He picked them up when they fell

He helped heal the sick
He took pain from the old
He showed them a kingdom
They believed what he told

John walked out in the heat of the day
To the Jordan River where salvation lay

His head was burning in the blazing sun
So he reached his hands into the water’s run

John splashed salvation on his burning brow
Closed his eyes and let the water run down

He had a following, and he drew a crowd
But Herod decided he didn’t want him around

He delivered them from evil
He delivered them from hell
He granted them salvation
He picked them up when they fell

He helped heal the sick
He took pain from the old
He showed them a kingdom
They believed what he told

John walked out in the heat of the day
To the Jordan River where salvation lay

His head was burning in the blazing sun
So he reached his hands into the water’s run

John splashed salvation on his burning brow
Closed his eyes and let the water run down

Herod spoke with anger and told all his men
Sharpen your blades and bring me back John’s head

They rode through the night
And they rode through the day
They found John kneeling
Where salvation lay

They raised their swords
And they yelled out his name
John you are done
No more baptizing today

John stood up in the heat of the day
On the Jordan River where salvation lay

His head was burning in the blazing sun
So he reached his hands into the water’s run

John splashed salvation on his burning brow
Closed his eyes and let the water run down

Herod’s men did laugh when they held up his head
John the Baptist was gone, he was done, he was dead

John became a legend
His story forever told
He was reveled as a Saint
And his spirit never grew old

His story traveled far
Over the water it went
To an Island in the sea
Where fierce warriors bent

The Knights had gathered, in the heat of day
They came from Malta where retribution lay

Their blades were burning in their vengeful fists
So they thrust them deep in their enemy’s chests

They swore salvation to John’s people that day
Promised to protect them, keep them from losing their way

They walk among us now
They are around us today
They protect us from evil
Keep us from losing our way

They walk around in secret
With a mark on their arm
The Cross of St. John
Protecting them from harm

John walked out in the heat of the day
To the Jordan River where salvation lay
